Spring Break in San Antonio

Before I get to spring break I'll begin with Bennett's 9 month check-up today.  He's a healthy boy for sure!  He's coming down the charts though.  He's down to 93% for both weight and height.  Still growing though!!  He weighs 24.1 lbs and is 30 inches!  I think he's catching up way too fast to his sister!!

Last week was Ella's spring break at preschool and Chris was in Las Vegas for the Sweet Sixteen so I decided to go down to San Antonio to visit my mom and Jim and some friends.  We drove down Tuesday and got stuck in Austin (YUCK) but other than that the kids did fine and then drove back on Sunday with no problems at all.  In fact, both kids slept almost the entire way after stopping for lunch.  Ella even slept while holding the DVD player in her lap.  We had a busy week.  Ella had so much fun playing with Grandma Ve Ve and Papa Jim that she didn't want to go home.  My mom and I took the kids to a park on Wednesday and relaxed.  Thursday I went over to my friend Leslie's house and the kids played and then that evening we had a girls night out.  Lots of fun!!  On Friday my mom and I took the kids downtown to the Magik Theatre for a play, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.  It was cute, although Ella didn't care for the added Jungle man character to make the story long enough for an hour.  He was a little scary in her opinion.  Afterwards she played at a great park right outside the theatre and then the kids napped in the car for a bit before lunch.  After lunch we went on a train ride through Breckenridge Park and then walked over to the Sunken Gardens and were home by 3:30.  It was a full and tiring day!!  On Saturday we went over to my friend Shea's house and Ella played with her two little girls.  We had a lot of fun!  Ella is already planning her next trip down.  Maybe we'll sneak in Sea World. :)

She does have pants

Ella is definitely in a dress phase.  Everyday she asks to wear a dress.  It could be 20 degrees outside and she wants to wear a dress.  Last week it was pretty cold outside so I convinced her to wear pants and a sweater two days in a row.  She put up a fight at first but was happy with the result both days.  She is opinionated for sure!  She says she is going to wear shorts in the summer...we'll see.  She actually picked out capri pants in a store the other day, but I didn't buy them.  I'm not convinced yet!

9 month comparison

Here are comparison pictures of Ella and Bennett at 9 months.  When looking at Ella's pictures I came across a few .mpegs.  She was already pulling herself up all by herself and rather quickly!  Bennett needs help getting to the standing position.  I love my SLR camera but I do miss not being able to record little movies to upload to the computer.  I've yet to figure out how to upload the camcorder to the computer.  That just sounds complicated. 

Bennett turned 9 months and got his FIRST haircut!

Big day for Bennett today!  He is 9 months old and had his first haircut.  I knew his bangs were rather shaggy but I had no idea how much hair he really had.  The lady cut off so much hair.  He sat so still and just let her do her thing.  He is such a sweet baby boy.  She of course thought he was well over a year since he is huge.

His appointment isn't for a couple of weeks but I'm pretty sure he's still off the charts or at least at the top of the charts.  He can wear 18 month clothing already.  He is finished with pureed food.  Yo Baby yogurt is just about the only thing he'll eat off of a spoon.  He wants to eat with his fingers.  You could say he's a better eater than his sister, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time until he'll be picky like her.  He pretty much will finish up what she doesn't eat.  He still isn't crawling but he moves around.  He kind of scoots around and rolls.  He likes to stand up, as long as you put him in the standing postion...remember he's real heavy. :)
