Homemade donuts

What kid doesn't love donuts?  Both Ella and Bennett love a donut and of course being the sugar addict that I am, I have to get one too.  Oh, who am I kidding, I get two.  Ella has to get a pink one with sprinkles and a couple donut holes and Bennett will eat whatever I give him.  Go figure!  Over the weekend I was looking at a couple blogs that I always read and clicked on a link that took me to another site (I don't remember which one) and I saw homemade donuts.  It brought back memories from when I was a little girl and my mom would make donuts for David and me.  Why have I never done this before?  On Sunday I bought a can of biscuits for $.43.  Now that is a lot cheaper than the trip to the donut shop which is pretty cheap itself.  Tuesday morning I pulled apart the biscuits and put them on wax paper.  Then I used a medicine cup and pressed down in the center of each biscuit to cut out a small ball to make donut holes leaving a ring.  I used the remaining canola oil I had on hand and heated it up, fried the dough on each side and then glazed half and rolled half in a sugar/cinnamon mixture.  Ella decorated with sprinkles.  She was so excited.  The TV wasn't even on until after breakfast was cleaned up!  That is a rarity here.  She gets to watch a few morning shows and then it goes off after breakfast.  Anyways, this was fun even though it wasn't the healthiest breakfast I've ever made.  They did each eat a banana and blueberries along with the donuts. :)
