Locks of Love

Around Christmas I asked Ella if she'd be interested in cutting her hair and donating it to Locks of Love.  I think Locks of Love is a wonderful organization and does something amazing for the people out there that are not only suffering with cancer itself but one of the results of losing their hair.  I told her she'd have to cut it above her shoulders and that it'd look really cute.  She said, "No mommy, I don't think so."  I told her all about the children that are cancer patients and lose their hair while taking chemotherapy.  "No, mommy, that's really not a good idea," was her response.  I don't know about you but whenever those St. Jude's specials come on TV I can't help but cry.  There were some commercials around the time I was trying to persuade her and I showed her the children in the commercials without hair and talked about how donating her hair would provide a wig for one of those children.  I even went as far as suggesting I'd cut mine off too!  Now mine isn't long enough to donate but I would have cut it if hers was.  I finally dropped it and figured I wait until closer to summer and try again.  Well, her BFFs Bryce & Layne got their hair cut into cute little bobs not too long ago and she hasn't stopped talking about cutting her hair since!  She has asked me numerous time when she could get her haircut.  The hair stylist asked her how she'd like it cut and she said to her shoulders.  I asked about Locks of Love and she said we could do it.  They printed out the form and off it went, she braided it and then chopped it off!  Ella was all smiles...I was a little nervous.  It looks so cute and she couldn't be happier.  I think it's just perfect for the upcoming warm weather.  I'm so proud of her!
