Close to Heaven

I figured since my last post was the countdown to our trip to Exuma I thought I'd better post about the trip.  Amazing.  The most beautiful island I've ever seen.  Water is simply unbelievable.  Heaven on earth.  Hmmm....wonder if I liked it?!?  We had such a wonderful time.  We we there with our friends, Nathan & Jill and Dave & Salli.  We've traveled together a few times before to a place called Vegas.  This was definitely better than Vegas!  Wow, N&J found an amazing villa to rent...

with an amazing infinity pool and balcony on each floor.  We drew for bedrooms and we lucked out and got the penthouse upstairs.

The first night we partied in the pool.

Then woke up to a beautiful view and lots of empties by the pool.

Then we drove to Little Exuma and went to the Tropic of Cancer beach.  Wow, I thought beaches this pretty were only in magazines straight out of photoshop.  Nope, just buy yourself a plane ticket to Exuma and you'll experience the fakeness for real.  I couldn't believe how pretty this beach was.  And, we were the only people there.

The only bad thing was the irritating pringle sharks.  Not really, but there were these white fish swimming around us while we were sitting in the ocean drinking our beers and eating our pringles.  They were freaking the girls out!

If you look closely you can see the pringle sharks.

Seriously, could you be any prettier?

The next day we rented a boat and captain Naton was our navigator and boat destructor.  Both days we had to get towed in for mechanical issues.  Thankfully, at the end of the day.

I spotted a crab on the beach!  I got so excited I ran straight for my camera, of course!  It was a sassy little thing.

Then we drove our boat over to Stocking Island to the Chat 'n Chill.  YOu can only get there by boat.  It's a fun little bar with toxic drinks.  If you aren't drunk when you get there you will be when you leave.

The thing to do is sign tables and chairs.  Sharpies are everywhere.  I'm nothing but class...

And that's where my photos from Day 1 at the C'nC will conclude.

Day 2 on the boat we drove around to different sandbars and some other small islands.  Again, the only people there.  We were looking for the sand dollar spot.  The guys found lots of them  It was pretty cool. I found one, too.

Just my prints along the beach

One of my favorite photos

Girls are sitting close to the shore while the guys are the little specks out to the right digging for sand dollars.

Chat 'n Chill day 2
Jill and Dave are signing Chris' A&M shirt he gave up to hang in the bar.

Off he goes while we direct him where to hang it.  In front of the burnt orange one!

Well done

On day 2 I actually got up close to this sign and read the signs.  I found Magnolia and Kemah, TX and San Diego, CA.  SD is right there in the middle.  All three are showing in this pic.

Fast forward to the next night, Fancy Night.  Dave wanted to have a fancy night where we all dressed nice and had steak dinner.  Since we were staying in a villa we were cooking our dinners every night, therefore no need to dress-up.  All week we talked up Fancy Night.  Nathan and Jill brought giant steaks (we brought all meat from US with us) that could have fed half of Exuma.

Fancy Night!!

A perfect ending to fancy night was this beautiful sunset.

Showing our silly side

All good trips must come to an end.  On our last day we drove down to Little Exuma and had lunch at Santana's Grill.  It's right on the beach, just a small hut type place with one lady, Dee (I think), who cooks the food right there in front of you.  The food was good and the view was outstanding.

When we were done eating a lady combined all the leftovers and threw out to the birds.

Unfortunately I think something I ate at Santana's did not agree with me.  On the flight home I broke out in hives and was covered in whelps by the time we got home at midnight.  I was so uncomfortable on the plane.  I have no idea what caused the reaction but I sure hope it never happens again.  I had to go get a steroid shot the next day and then still had hives the following day.  I'm all better now.

This was definitely a wonderful trip and I'm so thankful we went.  Every time I look at my pictures I get so happy.  I just want to frame them all over my house.   If you ever have the chance to go to Great Exuma you should not pass it up.

Whew, that was probably my longest post ever.

First, I'm so sorry you got sick on the way home...sounds like an allegic reaction to something (duh, I'm sure you know that). Second, Magnolia, TX, was on that sign...seriously, you know that's where I live?! LOL! How cool is that? Third, all of your pictures are beautiful & I'm so glad you shared! Glad you're feeling better too! xoxo
