Busy weekend here at the Crawford household. Friday night we had a make-up soccer game at 6pm. It was nice and cool outside and by the end of the game I was getting chilly. Bennett was entertained and sat in Chris' lap pretty much the entire game. Yea for us! Chris had surprised me with an early anniversary present earlier that day and followed it up with he's leaving Monday morning (our anniversary) for Seattle. I was so excited to get this new camera lens. I'd been drooling over it for months. I'd been planning on using all my birthday money and then some next month on it. He said now I can spend it all on clothes. He's the best!! Anyways, I took my new lens to the game even though it's not really a sports photography lens and I left the camera battery on the charger at home! Wouldn't you know Miss Ella showed up for the game Friday night and played her little heart out and scored her FIRST goal! It was so cute. She just stood there for a second and didn't quite know how to react - do I jump and cheer or just carry on?!? Of course all the parents were hooting and hollering! Now let me just tell you about this other team we were playing. These girls did not appear to be 4 and 5 year olds. They were more like 6 year olds. They were big girls. This was not their first year playing soccer. Their heads were in the game. They had some Easter European players with parents doing some side coaching and yelling in say German. It was bazaar. Needless to say, the ball was dominated by their girls but Ella scored a goal!!! Thank goodness they don't keep score at this level.
Yesterday morning Ella went to tennis at the PGA Superstore. We hadn't been in a while because it conflicts with soccer most mornings. She really enjoys it and I wanted to look at racquets since I start lessons next week.
Ella's in the yellow skirt. #56 is her friend from school.
Saturday's game the girls played great! We played a team that was more on our level. Ella sat out the first quarter and then played the last three. In the second half something really clicked and she scored THREE goals!! We've been talking about being aggressive and how it's okay to take the ball away from someone. They are intimidated and back away from the other girls most of the time. They were all really getting into yesterday though and we definitely won the game had we been keeping score. So proud of our Butterflies!
Her turn to be "goalie". Not sure why they do this??
Her first of three goals!
Raven kicked the ball to her and she scored her 3rd goal of the day!!
Bennett was a little more active during this game. We saw Kara and family as we were walking up so we stopped to talk. He was playing with Tyler for a few minutes who had a Take-a-long Thomas train set. He wanted to go back and play the rest of the time. I might be going to buy one of those train sets! It will most likely be worth the investment. I let him sit in my lap and take a couple pictures. He looked through the view finder and I'd push the button. Here's something he captured.
Happy week!
