Visit to Atlanta part 1

This year for spring break I wanted to go to Atlanta to visit my grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins.  In the fall my grandparents flew back to California and I was feeling extremely left out as they were making the rounds (even up to Seattle).  I was really wishing we were out there, too.  So, I decided we'd go for a visit over spring break but I was going to need to convince my husband to go with me!  That sounded completely wrong.  He loves my grandparents and family.  I meant I was going to have to convince him to go on a road trip, as in 13 hours, across four state lines.  In order to do this I set it up with, "How about you drive out with me and the kids and then you can fly out to Denver on Tuesday for work."  It totally worked!  I thought if he was with me on the way out then driving home by myself would be easier.  He drove...the whole way.  For the record I asked and he said, "It's my job."  He's type-A and likes to be in control so I just let him drive.  Besides, I was going to be driving the whole way home.  By myself.  Without even one extra hand to help those two extras perfect darlings in the back.  Back to the trip, my dad calls me Saturday as we're pulling into Starbucks in Tuscaloosa, AL.  I call right back and he delivers news that my grandma had a heart attack that morning and he didn't know much other than she was air lifted to another hospital.  We arrived to the empty house a couple hours later and then make our way to the hospital.  Chris and I were allowed into ICU but not the kids.  Amazingly, she looked well considering earlier that morning she had an artery that was 100% blocked causing the heart attack.  We are so thankful she survived because that is very dangerous!  They did an angioplasty and put in a stint all before my aunt and grandpa arrived!  On Wednesday she was able to talk her ICU nurse into letting me bring the kids into her room.  The hospital was full so she wasn't able to move to a regular room which meant the kids had not seen her all week.

Playing with Grandpa
1) notice the shiner on Bennett's chin.  He didn't even make a peep when he landed on it playing basketball the night before.
2) that thumb lead us to the doctor when we got home...

Playing with Barbies.

The next day, on Thursday, Grandma got to come home!  The kids and I were leaving that day so we got to see her for a little bit at the house and then we had to say our farewells.  I'm so glad she made it back home and is doing better.  Unfortunately the next week grandpa went in to the hospital for pneumonia.  He was there for a few days but is home now.  Please keep them and their health in your prayers

We love you grandma and grandpa!
