Ahhhhhhh

I just picked up my camera this morning from Competitive Cameras and I feel like I have a new camera.  It needed cleaning so badly.  After it got soaked from the wave in St. Thomas last year there was some sand or salt inside which left a black/grey dot in every picture.  Then over the course of the year another larger dot showed up.  Annoying.  Finally, I got tired of editing the annoying dots out of pictures so I drove to downtown Dallas and dropped off my camera.  It's nice and clean and ready for the big FIVE year old birthday party (sigh) on Sunday.  I'll be sure to steer clear of splashing kids. ;)

Now, my dilemma is which lens to buy next.  I have a nice zoom lens.  I need a lens for up-close pictures.  I really want a Nikon 50mm 1.8 but it doesn't auto focus with the D40 so I'd have to get the 1.4 which is super nice but double in cost.  Today I looked at the 35mm 1.8.  What to do, what to do.  I love photography but it sure is an expensive hobby.  Between the hubs golf and my photography we sure know how to pick the expensive ones don't we?!?

The owner gave me some counsel today also.  He told me which setting to set my camera on when I'm outside taking pictures at soccer to avoid blurriness.  I'll try it out on Saturday, although her game is at 9am, not direct sunlight.  Bennett happily went outback and played for a bit so I practiced at the setting.

Ahhhh, see there in the blue sky on the left?  Before Monday there would be two back dots I'd have to edit out.  So much better and worth every penny of the $38.

Love that happy face!
